What We Do

Just Theater provides an artistic home to theatrically adventurous voices addressing morally complex questions. We present new work that is smart, funny, and weird with complex narratives, distinctive use of language and big ideas. We seek out plays and playwrights pushing the boundaries of structure and form, developing new plays by local playwrights and introducing compelling new voices to Bay Area audiences.

Since 2005, we have produced five full productions, three West Coast Premieres, two devised works in progress, and developed eleven original plays in our New Play Lab. In just over five years, Just Theater has established a reputation as a wellspring of ambitious and challenging work. Our shows have been listed on year-end Top Ten lists in the East Bay Express and The Idiolect.com, and been nominated for multiple Bay Area Theater Critics Circle Awards.
